Frequently Asked Questions
The Downtown Park will be privately owned, operated and managed by a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, formed once the funds for construction have been raised. The nonprofit organization will have its own staff to manage and operate the park.
Once the park is built, it will be managed by dedicated park staff, who are employed by the non-profit park organization (this park is not part of the City of Lubbock’s park system). The initial capital campaign will include operational and endowment funds that will be used to cover repairs, renovations, and updates over time.
The park construction will be funded through private donations, grants from private foundations, and development funds set aside by the Central Business District TIF.

No! The park features (splashpad, pet relief area, game zone, public art displays) will all be free and accessible to anyone during park operation hours. There may be times when the entire park, or sections of the park, are fenced off for special events, which may either be private, or accessible to the public through ticket purchases.
The park will employ sundown-to-sunup security personnel to ensure there is no unauthorized use of the park. Certain park features (e.g. splashpad & bathrooms) will be operational only during designated times.
