Christmas Spirit in Downtown Lubbock

Christmas Spirit in Downtown Lubbock

It’s the most wonderful time of the year… but experiencing Christmas in Downtown Lubbock makes it even more magical.

Aside from the perfect places to shop gifts or have drinks over the holiday break, DLBK brings Christmas spirit to the heart of Lubbock year after year.

Throughout the month of December, spend quality time with your loved ones celebrating the season at these events in DLBK.

Texas Tech University’s Carol of Lights

Friday, December 2nd | 6:30 p.m. | Texas Tech University Memorial Circle

Although it’s not 100 years of Carol of Lights, it is 100 years of Texas Tech University and you won’t want to miss it.

Carol of Lights is one of the Red Raider’s oldest and largest traditions. Each year, thousands of students, alumni, and Lubbock residents attend to light up the night and TTU campus with millions of Christmas lights. The event also includes a 38-foot Christmas tree, 20-foot wreath, and student art competition.

This year’s ceremony is the official kick-off for TTU’s Centennial celebration to commemorate their century of dedication to higher education and striving for honor.

Miracles Christmas Parade

Saturday, December 3rd | 6 p.m. | 34th & Ave. Q

This year, 40 parade floats will line up at 34th & Ave. Q for the 17th annual Miracles Christmas Parade.

The Christmas celebration will include the Texas Tech pom and cheer squads, the Masked Rider, and Raider Red. All four Lubbock ISD high school bands will march to their music and U.S. Marines will walk along the route accepting unwrapped Christmas gifts for Toys For Tots.

Although the parade is technically free for anyone who wants to attend… everyone is encouraged to wear an ugly Christmas sweater! The parade will continue through to 34th & Indiana Ave.

Santa Land

December 10th - 22nd | 6 - 10 p.m. | 600 Cesar E. Chavez Drive

This year will make 66 years of Santa Land in Downtown Lubbock.

The annual event is free for people of all ages and is once again a walk-through event. Each year, approximately 50,000 people visit to enjoy a 50-foot Christmas tree, animated displays, bonfires, and traditional holiday scenery.

If you decide to visit, make sure to bring your camera! Santa will be ready for his close-up with you and your loved ones.

We hope these events bring you all the holiday cheer you’re looking for this season! Be sure to tag us in any photos you take on Instagram @downtownlubbbock. Merry Christmas!
